How the duel works

Complete each row, column, and 3 × 3 box with digits 1–9. You and the opponent receive the same starting clues on separate boards.

Controls

Click a cell or use the arrow keys. Enter digits 1–9. Press N for pencil marks, Delete to erase, and Control/Command + Z to undo. Notes are never checked against the solution.

Race and scoring

The first correct completion wins. Finishes in the same elapsed one-second bucket tie. If JEV finishes first, keep solving for your completion time. Games expire after 60 minutes.

Opponent difficulty

Easy uses naked singles. Normal adds hidden singles and locked candidates. Hard adds pairs and X-Wing. JEV adds triples, bounded previews, and explicit backtracking. A profile can become stuck. Ranked actions have an eight-second minimum cadence.

Ranked integrity

Daily ranked requires Discord and live JEV configuration. One official attempt per user, difficulty, and UTC day. JEV answer digits and detailed deductions stay concealed until your attempt ends. Revealing answers or a service fallback makes the attempt practice.

Server verification proves valid recorded play, not the absence of external solving assistance.

Without credentials

The game runs against an explicitly labeled local heuristic. It is not presented as live JEV, and cannot create official scores.
